Do you truly understand the benefits of coupons? A coupon is meant to draw in customers. Businesses use them to get you to buy. Don't let this discourage you from using them. If you're going to buy whether you have a coupon or not, it's more than worth the small hassle it takes to get them.
Coupon Cards and Books
Discount cards and coupon books are popular fundraisers, and they are also a great source of good coupons. Keep an eye out for kids selling discounts cards. They can be used over and over again for discounts from businesses in your area such as shops and restaurants. Make sure you get one specifically for the area where you shop most.
Coupon books are filled with coupons for entertainment including bowling alleys, skating rinks, restaurants, hotels, etc. One purchase can save you a lot of money over the life of the book.
These are great ways to save money, but be careful. Don't buy them if you won't use them, or if you end up spending money unnecessarily. If you love bowling and eating out, you'll save money. If you're a homebody, it's probably not a good purchase. You usually won't find grocery store or department store coupons in them.
The Sunday Paper
The Sunday paper is full of coupons every week. Some weeks there are extra flyers with more savings. Look for the flyers and coupon booklets in the center for grocery store coupons. Sometimes you can get entertainment coupons and other deals, too. Clip as many coupons as you can, but don't clip anything you won't use.
Coupon Websites
Coupon websites are popping up all over. Some just have grocery store coupons, and others have a variety of coupons. Most of the sites contain
printable coupons you can download off the page. Find a few and check them frequently for good deals.
Product Packaging
Keep an eye out for coupons when you open things up. Some products have manufacturer coupons inside the packaging, on directions, or sealed under plastic wrap. If you bought the product once, you might buy it again. Next time you can get it cheaper because you have a coupon.
Coupon Codes
Do you shop online a lot? Coupon codes are the best way to save money online. Smaller websites often have coupon codes to save on entire purchases such as a percentage off or free shipping. Larger stores usually have more specific coupon codes for individual products. Either way, never finish an online purchase without first searching for a coupon code.
Email and Snail Mail
You can gather a lot of coupons by signing up for mailing lists. Department stores will often send emails alerting you about sales and giving you coupons. Some will also send coupons through the regular mail such as store-wide discounts. If you go to some stores more than others, ask if you can sign up for a newsletter to get deals and coupons.
Specials
Always watch out for specials and sales in the paper, online, or on the road. You never know when a store will have a weekend blowout sale, clearance, or deeply discounted liquidation sale
